SummaryNG Bailey is involved in the Hinkley Point C project based in Bridgwater, Somerset – the first of a new generation of nuclear power stations in Britain providing zero‑carbon electricity for around six million homes. As part of recent growth on this project, we have a new vacancy for a Quality Engineer to support the Discipline Quality Managers in ensuring all aspects of quality assurance (QA) and quality control (QC) are implemented effectively throughout the project lifecycle.
Responsibilities- Develop, implement, and manage a Quality Management System (QMS) tailored for the nuclear new build project, collaborating with QA area leads, engineers, and stakeholders.
- Create, review, and maintain QA/QC procedures, work instructions, and quality plans that comply with regulatory requirements, industry standards, and project specifications.
- Conduct regular audits and inspections to verify compliance, identify non‑conformances, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Oversee life‑time quality records to ensure accurate, up‑to‑date documentation for regulatory compliance and traceability.
- Identify, assess, and mitigate quality risks and hazards through risk management processes.
- Ensure compliance with all nuclear regulatory requirements, codes, standards, and licensing conditions related to QA/QC activities.
- Provide training and guidance on QA/QC procedures, standards, and requirements to promote quality awareness.
- Investigate root causes of quality issues or failures and implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
- Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs), prepare progress reports, and communicate QA status and recommendations to project management.
- Develop Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) to meet construction schedule requirements.
- Champion CFME (Foreign Material Exclusion) to prevent ingress or entrapment of non‑specified materials in equipment and systems during assembly and testing.
- Issue and facilitate closure of site NCRs, and maintain NCR/CAR lessons‑learned logs.
- Prior experience in a quality position within the engineering industry and holding suitable electrical qualifications (HNC/HND or trade qualifications).
- Experience in a regulated industry and on large‑scale projects is beneficial.
- Holding an Internal Auditor qualification is advantageous.
