About the Opportunity

Westlakes Recruit is supporting a leading engineering and nuclear organisation with the appointment of a Quality Control Site Lead. This is a key site-based leadership role responsible for managing the Quality Control team and ensuring manufacturing and installation activities meet the highest standards of nuclear safety, quality, compliance and documentation. The successful candidate will lead a team of QC Engineers and Inspectors, oversee inspection activities and ensure Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs) are delivered accurately and on time.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead, manage and develop the site Quality Control team.
  • Promote a strong Right First Time and nuclear safety culture.
  • Plan and manage daily, weekly and monthly QC activities in line with project requirements.
  • Ensure Inspection & Test Plans (ITPs) are accurately implemented and maintained.
  • Manage QC activities across manufacturing and installation, including NDT, dimensional inspection and associated documentation
    .
  • Oversee the production and delivery of Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs).
  • Manage welding quality, NDT requirements, documentation and welder qualifications.
  • Monitor quality performance across projects and suppliers.
  • Lead investigations into non-conformances (NCRs) and support root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Provide quality updates and technical support to project leadership.
  • Liaise with clients and other stakeholders on quality matters.
  • Ensure the QC team remains suitably qualified and experienced (
    SQEP
    ).
  • Identify opportunities to improve manufacturing and quality processes.
About You

We are looking for an experienced quality professional with a strong background in nuclear, manufacturing, engineering, construction or another highly regulated environment.

Essential
  • Degree in Engineering, Quality, Manufacturing, Business or a related discipline.
  • Extensive experience implementing quality programmes within manufacturing or construction.
  • Proven experience leading or managing Quality Control teams.
  • Strong understanding of ISO 9001 and ISO 19443
    .
  • Experience with inspection, testing,
    NDT and welding quality
    .
  • Experience managing ITPs and quality documentation.
  • Strong understanding of non-conformance management and Root Cause Analysis
    .
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and a fact-based approach to problem solving.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
Desirable
  • UK nuclear experience.
  • Nuclear new build experience.
  • Knowledge of RCC-M requirements.
  • Advanced knowledge of welding procedures.
  • Experience managing Lifetime Quality Records
    .
  • CWSIP qualification.
  • French language skills.
  • Experience working within major nuclear manufacturing or construction programmes.
