Job DescriptionWe are seeking an experienced Quality Control Manager to join a leading organisation operating within a highly regulated nuclear environment. This is a key leadership position responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality throughout manufacturing and installation activities while promoting a strong Nuclear Safety Culture.
The successful candidate will act as the primary point of contact for all manufacturing and installation quality matters, ensuring compliance with project requirements, industry regulations, and customer expectations.
Key Responsibilities- Promote a Right First Time culture across all manufacturing and installation activities.
- Drive, develop and maintain Nuclear Safety Culture behaviours throughout the organisation.
- Manage and continuously improve Inspection and Test Plans (
ITPs
). - Act as the main point of contact for all manufacturing and installation quality matters.
- Lead, mentor and develop the Quality Control team, ensuring appropriate training and competency development.
- Ensure project procedures are implemented and followed in accordance with the Business Management System (
BMS
). - Oversee manufacturing and installation quality control activities, including NDT inspections, dimensional checks and associated records.
- Manage the generation, maintenance and delivery of Lifetime Quality Records.
- Monitor supplier and project quality performance to ensure compliance with nuclear quality standards.
- Oversee welding quality activities, including welder qualifications, welding consumable control, documentation and storage requirements.
- Support project teams in achieving quality objectives and resolving quality-related challenges.
- Serve as the primary quality interface with clients and stakeholders.
- Promote awareness of customer requirements throughout the project organisation.
- Analyse process quality issues and implement effective improvement actions.
- Lead investigations into NCRs (Non-Conformance Reports), including root cause analysis, corrective actions and progress tracking.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures and quality standards.
- Support the Senior Project Quality Manager on manufacturing quality matters.
- 5+ years' experience in a Quality Control or Quality Management role.
- Significant experience working within the UK nuclear sector or another highly regulated industry.
- Strong understanding of manufacturing quality processes, inspections and quality assurance principles.
- Experience managing quality documentation and Lifetime Quality Records.
- Knowledge of welding quality requirements, welder qualifications and NDT activities.
- Experience investigating non-conformances and conducting root cause analysis.
- Proven leadership experience managing and developing teams.
- Excellent stakeholder management and client-facing communication skills.
- Strong understanding of compliance, safety and regulatory requirements.
- A Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Engineering
