This role provides custodial and personal care services to clients that contract with Assisting Hands under the direction of the Staffing Coordinator in compliance with the Plan of Care.

Base pay range: $16.00/hr - $18.00/hr

• High School Diploma/GED required
• One (1) year experience in the home or long‑term care setting is preferred

• Maintain a clean, safe, and healthy environment within the client’s residence; includes light cleaning and straightening of bathrooms, living areas, washing dishes or laundry.
• Perform all personal care activities contained in a written Plan of Care: personal hygiene, ambulation and exercise, eating, dressing, shaving, physical transfer, and other duties as assigned.
• Provide nutritional support as needed.
• Report changes in the client’s condition.
• Assist with the use of devices for aid to daily living such as a wheelchair, walker, or Hoyer lift.
• Assist with prescribed range of motion exercises.
• Teach household routine and skills to well‑members of the family.
• Measure intake and output of fluids.
• Measure and record temperature, pulse, respiration, or blood pressure.
• Keep records of personal health‑care activities.
• Observe appearance and gross behavioral changes in the client and report to the agency supervisor.
• Assist in the self‑administration of medication: taking medication from the container, opening, removing prescribed amount, inserting into the client’s mouth or carrying the dosage to the client, closing, and returning the container to proper storage while keeping a record.
• Prepare necessary items such as juice, water, cups, or spoons to assist the client in the self‑administration of medication.
• Open and close medication containers or tear the foil of prepackaged medications.
• Assist in the self‑administration process, e.g., steadying the arm or hand.
• Abide by the agency’s infection control policies, including proper hand washing techniques consistent with CDC Guidelines.
• Abide by all policies and procedures outlined in the agency’s Policy and Procedure Manual, Caregiver Handbook, and Caregiver Training Manual.

Dependent on assignment; shifts available 24 hours a day, 7 days per week and based on availability. Assisting Hands does not guarantee hours.
