An opportunity has arisen for a medical receptionist to join our friendly team. 20 hours per week, worked over five days – Monday to Friday. We are a well‑organised practice in Rastrick, Brighouse that consistently provides high‑quality care to over 5,000 patients. Duties include greeting patients, answering the telephone, and carrying out a wide variety of administrative duties. Basic computer skills are essential;

NHS general practice experience and knowledge of Systm One are desirable but not required.

Responsibilities
  • Administration
    • Have thorough knowledge of all practice procedures and work in accordance with written protocols.
    • Photocopy, scan and process medical documents and reports as requested.
    • Allocate and perform other administrative duties.
  • Reception
    • Receive and consult patients with the practice team.
    • Hand completed repeat prescriptions to patients, checking names and addresses.
    • Cover all reception positions as necessary.
  • Appointments
    • Process appointment requests for today and future appointments by phone and in person.
    • Deal with visit requests and computer registrations of new patients.
    • Enter and update patient change of address and other medical records.
    • Process repeat prescription requests according to practice guidelines.
    • Scan patient medical letters as required.
  • Telephone
    • Use the telephone system during and after hours.
  • Other Tasks
    • Clear rooms after surgeries and ensure building security.
    • Make coffee for doctors and colleagues.
    • Chaperone clinicians if required.
    • Complete training relevant to the role.
Qualifications
  • Good general education with numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Previous experience working with computers.
  • Experience as a medical receptionist in a GP surgery.
  • Experience of customer care or dealing with members of the public in a frontline role.
  • Desirable: NHS general practice experience and knowledge of Systm One.
