Sizewell C is entering an exciting phase of growth as we mature into an independent organisation and continue building one of the UK’s largest and most important energy projects. We are now recruiting the below position:
Position: Lead Document Controller – Maternity Cover
Location: Open to all office locations – London, Bristol, Manchester, Leiston, Ipswich, Gloucester. Hybrid working

About the Role:Leading a team of Document Controllers, you will drive document and records management best practice across major Sizewell C projects and contracts. Working closely with project teams, stakeholders and suppliers, you will ensure documentation is controlled, compliant and delivered efficiently throughout the project lifecycle. You will champion high standards of document management, support regulatory requirements, and help ensure information is managed effectively through Teamcenter and other project systems.
Key Responsibilities:- Maintain, issue and distribute controlled information, ensuring records remain up to date and readily available to project teams.
- Provide guidance and support to ensure compliance with document management processes, procedures and best practice.
- Liaise with project teams, contractors and suppliers regarding document issuance, control and storage.
- Carry out conformance checks on documents and drawings to ensure compliance with required formats and statuses.
- Support Project Managers in maintaining compliant and structured hard copy and electronic filing systems.
- Assist Project Managers with project close-out documentation and archiving activities.
- Identify and implement document management lessons learned from Hinkley Point C and wider industry experience.
- Manage the day-to-day activities and performance of a team of Document Controllers.
Skills:
- Proven experience as a Lead Document Controller, or in a similar role, within a project environment managing engineering documentation, records and data using an Electronic Document Management System (EDMS).
- Experience in major project document, records and information management.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Visio and Outlook); experience with Adobe Acrobat is desirable.
- Experience with in a technical or engineering environment is beneficial.
- Strong organisational and workload management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively and work under pressure.
- Self-motivated team player with an understanding of how their role influences wider project delivery and team performance.
- Good understanding of electronic file formats and the importance of accurate document control and referencing.
- Strong people management skills and experience leading document control teams.
- Able to champion document management best practice, supporting practical solutions while remaining open to alternative ideas and approaches.
- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build effective relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Experience using Teamcenter Electronic Document and Records Management System (EDRMS).
- Knowledge and understanding of the nuclear industry and nuclear site licence requirements.
Experience:
- Experience working with project teams and supply chain organisations.
- Experience implementing and managing document, records and information management processes, methodologies and tools within major projects.
- Understanding and practical application of quality processes relevant to document management.
- Knowledge of ISO 9001, ISO 19443, ISO 14001, ISO 45001 and GSR Part 2 standards within a multidisciplinary project environment.
