Do you enjoy turning survey findings into successful maintenance and improvement projects?

Are you a Building Surveyor who can manage projects from inspection and design through to contract administration and completion?

Do you enjoy working collaboratively with clients, contractors and professional consultants to deliver high-quality outcomes?

Would you like to help shape and improve one of the South Coast's most diverse and varied property portfolios?

Our Strategic Property service area manages a wide range of non-housing assets across Brighton & Hove, including civic buildings, schools, commercial properties, leisure facilities, museums, theatres and historic buildings. The Building Surveying team delivers asset maintenance projects and services to diverse clients, customers and communities. No two days are the same in the Team! We are looking for a Building Surveyor to help deliver planned maintenance, refurbishment and compliance projects that ensure these important assets remain safe, sustainable and fit for purpose.

What

You'll Be Doing
  • Undertaking condition surveys, inspections and defect investigations.
  • Preparing feasibility studies, technical reports, specifications and schedules of work.
  • Managing planned maintenance and capital projects from inception to completion.
  • Acting in contract administration and project management roles.
  • Managing consultants and contractors, monitoring performance, programme and budgets.
  • Applying Principal Designer and CDM responsibilities where required.
  • Supporting sustainability, accessibility and compliance improvements across the portfolio.
  • Building positive working relationships with clients, contractors, consultants and council colleagues.
  • Supporting graduate surveyors and contributing to a collaborative professional culture.
What We're Looking For
  • A degree in Building Surveying, Construction Management or a related discipline.
  • Experience delivering building surveying services and property improvement projects.
  • Strong technical knowledge of building defects, maintenance and refurbishment works.
  • Experience preparing specifications, managing procurement processes and administering building contracts.
  • Knowledge of CDM 2015, Building Regulations and construction health and safety requirements.
  • The ability to manage multiple projects and competing priorities.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A commitment to delivering inclusive, customer-focused services.
