Location: Hove

A specialist SEND school in Hove is seeking an experienced and compassionate Science Teacher to join our multidisciplinary team, supporting young people aged 12–18 within a Tier 4 Eating Disorder service
.

The pupils present with a primary diagnosis of an eating disorder
, or eating difficulties alongside co‑morbid mental health needs such as depression, OCD, anxiety, or self‑harm
. This is a unique and rewarding opportunity to make a meaningful difference in a highly supportive, therapeutic educational setting.

The Role
  • Deliver engaging, differentiated Science lessons tailored to individual learning and wellbeing needs.

  • Support pupils’
    academic progress, emotional regulation, and re‑engagement with learning
    .

  • Work closely with clinicians, therapists, families, and support staff as part of a holistic care model
    .

  • Contribute to individual education plans (IEPs/EHCPs) and risk management strategies.

  • Create a calm, nurturing classroom environment that promotes recovery, confidence, and resilience
    .

The Ideal Candidate
  • Qualified Science Teacher (QTS/QTLS or equivalent) with strong SEND experience
    .

  • Proven experience supporting young people with complex mental health needs
    ; experience in ED or CAMHS settings is highly desirable.

  • Skilled in trauma‑informed practice
    , differentiation, and positive behaviour support.

  • Patient, empathetic, and resilient, with excellent communication and teamwork skills.
