About This RoleOur small central office Finance team provides financial accounting and administrative support to all parts of the Green Party of England and Wales, including to the offices of our representatives in Parliament. We also co-ordinate statutory financial reporting to the Electoral Commission for the central party and for local and regional Green Parties (Accounting Units).
Along with other members of the Finance team, you will be responsible for ensuring that all transactions are promptly and accurately recorded in our accounting software (Xero), that payments are made to third parties in accordance with our policies and in a timely manner, for some credit control duties, and for supporting the rest of the Finance team as required.
We need a meticulous person, capable of communicating effectively and building constructive relationships with volunteers and other staff members. The successful candidate must be used to working to tight deadlines with a high degree of accuracy.
Record supplier invoices and expense claims in Xero, prepare payment runs and reconcile balances.
Credit ControlPrepare sales invoices for recharges, chase payment on time and resolve disputes promptly.
Accounting Unit ReportingCollate and check financial returns from around 300 Accounting Units, supporting local Treasurers.
ComplianceCheck incoming donations for permissibility and prepare data for VAT and Electoral Commission returns.
The salary is £31,592 per annum full time, or pro rata equivalent, subject to assessment (Point 6 on the GPEW salary scale). The role is full time at 35 hours per week, although part‑time applications of three or four days per week will be considered
. It is remote within the UK with some working in our London office, up to once per month, and reports to the Head of Finance.
