IT Administrator Job Description Part‑time Role (22.5 hrs per week) From £24,000 PA (£40k pro rata’ed)
An IT administrator, or systems administrator, is responsible for maintaining and managing a company’s computer networks, servers, and overall IT infrastructure. Their work ensures that systems are secure, run efficiently, and meet the company's technical needs.
Responsibilities:- System and network management:
Monitor, maintain, and troubleshoot the company's networks, servers, and other IT systems. - Hardware and software support:
Install, configure, and upgrade computer hardware, operating systems, and software applications. - User support:
Serve as the primary point of contact for all IT-related issues, providing timely and effective technical assistance to end-users. - Security:
Implement and enforce security protocols, manage user access controls, and use tools like firewalls and antivirus software to protect the network from threats. - Data management:
Oversee data backup, archiving, and disaster recovery procedures to ensure business continuity. - Documentation:
Maintain comprehensive documentation of network configurations, system procedures, and troubleshooting steps. - Deal with 3rd party companies ensuring outsourced contracts are maintained.
- Deal with the companies domain registration/renewals. Ensuring DNS updates are carried out as needed.
- Proven experience in a similar IT administration or technical support role, with at least two years of experience preferred.
- A Level/Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent practical experience).
- Familiarity with Windows operating systems.
- Experience with server virtualization technologies (e.g., Hyper‑V) and cloud services (e.g., AWS, Azure) is a plus.
- Strong technical proficiency:
Expertise in IT systems, networks, hardware, and software. - Exceptional problem‑solving skills:
The ability to analyze, diagnose, and resolve technical issues efficiently. - Good communication:
The capacity to explain technical concepts to non‑technical users in a clear and patient manner. - Organizational and time‑management skills:
The ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously. - Adaptability:
The willingness to learn and keep up with rapidly evolving technologies.
