The LGBTQIA+ Sexual Harm Support Worker will play a key role in strengthening specialist sexual harm support for LGBTQIA+ people in Brighton & Hove, providing dedicated, accessible, and trauma-informed support to those who have experienced sexual harm, including individuals who choose not to engage with the criminal justice system.
For the purposes of this role sexual harm refers to any unwanted or nonconsensual sexual experience, including (but not limited to) sexual assault, abuse, exploitation, or harassment.
The postholder will build strong relationships with local sexual violence services, colleges and universities, statutory agencies, Switchboard IDVAs, and community organisations, ensuring LGBTQIA+ survivors in Brighton & Hove can access inclusive, affirming, and holistic support. The role includes a combination of direct survivor support, advocacy, partnership working, outreach, and service development, with a particular focus on addressing LGBTQIA+-specific experiences of sexual harm, including chemsex and sexual harm within domestic abuse.
