The Material Controller is responsible for ensuring full material traceability and quality compliance for all materials, equipment and components utilised on the Hinkley Point C project. Working within the Quality Department, the role supports the delivery of Linxon's electrical infrastructure scope by maintaining accurate material records, quality documentation and traceability requirements in accordance with project procedures, client specifications and nuclear industry standards.

The successful candidate will act as a key interface between Quality, Procurement, Construction, Expediting and Suppliers, ensuring that all materials are correctly documented, inspected, controlled and available to support the project lifecycle.

Job Responsibilities

• Maintain complete material traceability records from receipt through to installation and handover.
• Review and control material certification, inspection records, test reports and manufacturer documentation.
• Ensure all materials and equipment received on site comply with project specifications, purchase order requirements and quality standards.
• Coordinate material receiving inspections alongside Quality and Construction teams.
• Verify material certificates, declarations of conformity and associated quality documentation.
• Manage material status registers and ensure accurate tracking of materials throughout the project.
• Support preservation and storage requirements for critical electrical equipment.
• Monitor and report non-conforming materials, damaged equipment and quality-related issues.
• Coordinate quarantine and segregation of rejected or non-compliant materials.
• Support the compilation of Manufacturing Record Books (MRBs), Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs) and handover dossiers.
• Work closely with suppliers and procurement teams to resolve certification or documentation discrepancies.
• Assist with project audits, surveillance activities and quality inspections.
• Maintain material tracking databases and document management systems.
• Generate regular reports on material status, traceability and certification completion.
• Support final project handover by ensuring all material records are complete, accurate and auditable.

Qualifications

• Experience working on Hinkley Point C or other major infrastructure projects.
• Experience with in the Nuclear, Power Generation or High Voltage Substation sectors.
• Understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management Systems.
• Knowledge of LTQR, MRB and turnover documentation requirements.
• CSCS Card or equivalent site access credentials.
• Familiarity with EDF and Nuclear New Build quality requirements.

Experience

• Previous experience as a Material Controller, Quality Controller, Document Controller or Materials Coordinator within engineering, power, utilities, oil & gas, transmission & distribution, rail or nuclear projects.
• Strong understanding of material traceability and quality documentation requirements.
• Experience reviewing material certificates, inspection reports and supplier documentation.
• Knowledge of QA/QC processes and non-conformance management.
• Experience using document management and material tracking systems.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel.
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work effectively with multiple stakeholders across project teams.
