Overview
Engagement Coordinator – City of Westminster, CO. The Engagement Coordinator is a dynamic and strategic member of the Communications Division who strengthens the connection between the City, its residents, and its elected leaders. This role supports City Council engagement and advances community involvement in infrastructure and construction projects, following IAP2 best practices.
Position Details- Openings:
Two Engagement Coordinator positions (one regular/benefited, one temporary/term-limited up to three years from date of hire). - Salary: $91,797.00 - $ Annually

- Plan, coordinate, and execute public-facing events for City Council such as town halls, listening sessions, community forums, and other civic gatherings
- Support City Council communication efforts by working with subject matter experts to develop timely, thoughtful responses to community inquiries and public comments
- Administer Access Westminster, the City’s customer service portal, ensuring accurate routing, follow-up, issue resolution, and escalating issues appropriately
- Build strong working relationships with elected officials, internal departments, and community groups to support responsive, transparent governance
- Track public input and sentiment and prepare summaries and reports to inform Council decision-making
- Draft communications and engagement materials for a variety of public platforms, ensuring clarity and transparency
- Provide communications and event logistics support, including presentations and staffing at public events
- Design and implement public participation strategies for capital projects in alignment with IAP2 Core Values and best practices
- Collaborate with project managers, engineers, planners, and communications staff to provide strategic engagement on transportation, utility, and construction projects
- Translate complex technical information into accessible materials for residents through digital, print, and in-person channels
- Lead in-person and digital engagement for major infrastructure efforts, including construction notices, neighborhood meetings, pop-ups, mailers, digital content, and targeted communications
- Monitor construction impacts and community concerns, adjusting engagement strategies to maintain transparency and trust
- Develop and implement public participation strategies for infrastructure and capital improvement projects across the city
- Serve as a liaison between residents and project teams, documenting concerns and feedback and incorporating them into engagement plans
- Coordinate meetings with residents as needed
- Manage engagement budget and procurement processes; manage vendor relationships
- Maintain regular and punctual attendance
- Bachelor’s degree in public administration, communications, urban planning, political science, or related field
- Three (3) years of progressively responsible experience in community engagement, public participation, or public affairs in a government setting
- Experience managing construction or infrastructure-related outreach
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite
- Possession of a valid driver’s license and maintenance of a safe driving record
- Bilingual skills, especially Spanish, are highly desirable
