Job DescriptionThe Ground Paramedic demonstrates advanced critical thinking capabilities in working autonomously and in collaboration with other healthcare providers in the delivery of care to critically ill patients in diverse and non‑traditional settings.
Essential Functions- Provides advanced medical care, including evaluation, treatment, and stabilization of patients.
- Safely drives and operates ambulances and other emergency vehicles.
- Transports patients to appropriate medical facilities while ensuring their safety and stability.
- Maintains effective communication with dispatch, hospital staff, police, fire personnel, and other necessary parties.
- Accurately completes and maintains Patient Care Reports, files, and forms.
- Cleans and maintains medical equipment, vehicles, and living quarters.
- Participates in ongoing training and continuing education to maintain paramedic certification and stay current with medical protocols.
- Provides supervision and ensures the quality and accuracy of care provided by EMTs and other emergency personnel.

- Must obtain Paramedic license in state of operation within 120 days
- Basic Life Support (BLS) for Healthcare Providers
- Current valid driver license in good standing
- Approved trauma and life support certifications (ATLS, TPATC, PHTLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) Certification
- Paramedic National Registry Certification
- Current Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) Certification (must obtain within 120 days of hire and maintain throughout employment)
- Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Certification (must obtain within 120 days of hire and maintain throughout employment)
- Attendance License (Before start of employment)
All EMS medical crew members may be subject to certain work conditions while functioning in the full capacity of their position, including performance of essential job responsibilities in a moving ground ambulance, hospital, and outdoor environments (inclement weather, extremes of temperature, accident scenes, steep terrain, back country, etc.). Responsibilities also include exposure to noise, vibration, and dehydrating environment of a ground ambulance, exposure to patients with known or unknown infectious disease in enclosed spaces, frequent use of monitors and equipment, and the need to read and interpret patient information quickly.
Employees must be able to lift, carry, and move patients or heavy items, stand for extended periods, and operate a vehicle when required.
