Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions:
Greet, engage, and assist customers actively and visibly.Process customer transactions quickly, accurately, and efficiently through the check lane.Understand and operate the Point of Sale (POS) system, handling various tenders such as Cash, Checks, Credit, Debit, SNAP EBT, WIC, Rain checks, loyalty offers, coupons, and checkout procedures per company policy.Adhere to the company's cash shortage and overage limits, working honestly to control loss.Follow guidelines on restricted sale items (Alcohol, Tobacco, DVDs).Report pricing discrepancies to the Scan Coordinator.Follow policies for postage stamps, gift cards, and coupons.Stay informed about current, upcoming, seasonal, and promotional ads.Comply with food safety regulations and guidelines.Reinforce safety programs, report unsafe conditions or incidents.Inspect equipment regularly and report repairs needed.Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions about products.Follow all applicable laws and company policies.Work effectively in high-paced, stressful environments.Manage conflicts cooperatively and professionally.Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.Follow directions and seek help when needed to resolve issues.Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.Qualifications
Minimum Position Qualifications:
- Customer service experience
- Effective communication skills
- Basic math skills (counting, addition, subtraction)
Desired Previous Job Experience:
- Customer service experience
- Experience as a Bagger or Courtesy Clerk
