Goodwill of Colorado is seeking versatile and adaptable candidates to become our Shift Supervisor at our New Brighton Retail Store. Previous supervisory experience in retail, restaurant, hospitality, warehouse, or similar industries is preferred. A successful Shift Supervisor will naturally become a top candidate for career growth opportunities within Goodwill's Retail Division.

The stores are open 9 am to 9 pm Monday through Saturday and 9 am to 7 pm Sunday. Shifts for this position could start as early as 7 am and end as late as 10 pm. This is a full-time supervisory position with open availability, including evenings and weekends.

Job Summary:

The Retail Center Shift Supervisor will be responsible for day-to-day, tactical, and practical leadership of associates and teams across the entire retail center.

Responsibilities

Essential Functions:

  • Generally responsible for monitoring the whole retail center and addressing safety, customer focus, product flow, and aesthetics, personally or through delegation.
  • Employee Leadership:
    • Manages breaks.
    • Redirects staff/work teams to address call-offs.
    • Coaches employees verbally and with initial write-ups.
    • Provides input to reviews and terminations.
    • Facilitates employee purchases.
  • Task/Functional Leadership:
    • Assists in opening and closing procedures.
    • Responsible for verification of the daily sales report paperwork.
    • Responsible for counting drawers.
    • Responsible for making change between drawers and the safe.
    • Assist with inventory process by counting, entering, and verifying.
    • Ability to be on call for alarm notifications after hours.
  • Customer Focus:
    • Plan, coordinate, and control the activities of the customer service team to maintain and enhance customer relationships and achieve objectives.
    • First escalation point for customer complaints.
    • Point of contact for turning down donations at Attended Donation Centers (ADC).
  • Cross-training:
    • Maintains knowledge of store procedures to the level of a generalist, with ability to fill in during emergencies.
    • Ensure E-Commerce products are processed accurately and moved to E-Commerce efficiently.
    • Becomes certified on pallet jack, walkie stacker, forklift, hand dolly, or other equipment to move and store donated product.
    • Maintains knowledge to operate in rare cases where no Assistant Manager or Manager is on premises.
  • Additional duties as required.
Qualifications

Education:

  • A High School diploma or equivalent is preferred.

Experience:

  • Previous supervisory experience preferred.
  • Two (2) years retail experience desired.

Other:

  • Familiar with product pricing, trends, fashions, and seasonal changes.
  • Effective verbal and written communication with customers and staff.
  • Ability to obtain certification in all employee positions through On the Job (OJT) documentation.
  • Ability to obtain walkie stacker and/or forklift certification to safely operate equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and follow Goodwill policies and procedures.
  • Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 8 hours per day.
  • Be able to work varied schedules including weekends, evenings, holidays, with occasional overtime.
  • Proficient in office software (Word, Excel) and web-based applications (UKG, Novatime).
  • Ability to manage corporate email and calendar (Outlook).
