Campus Security Supervisor - High School
Join School District 27J as a Campus Security Supervisor for our high school campus.
DESCRIPTION: Ensure the safety and security of the high school campus and building by patrolling the campus and grounds, monitoring student behavior, diffusing hostile situations, overseeing traffic in the student parking lot, assisting administration and counselors, enforcing school rules, and providing overall security for students.
SALARY: Classified Grade N, starting at $22.86 per hour. 10 hours per day, 158 days on a 9‑month schedule. Position is paid over 12 months and eligible for benefits.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Monitor campus, parking lots, lunch areas, and the high school building to prevent property damage, provide security, and keep unauthorized persons off campus.
- Perform perimeter checks and maintain camera systems, including installation, monitoring, and video review.
- Mediate student conflicts, investigate drug and alcohol cases, conduct student searches, and communicate with School Resource Officers when necessary.
- Monitor student attendance, prevent truancy, and mitigate physical altercations, drug and alcohol use, or disruptive behavior.
- Assist teachers and administrators with classroom security and enforce attendance and dress-code policies.
- Supervise safety drills and evening events such as games, dances, prom, and graduation.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Specialized courses in law enforcement and/or security preferred.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
- Desire to work with at‑risk youth.
- Knowledge and experience in law enforcement.
- Effective decision‑making in ambiguous situations.
- Operational knowledge of computers, telephone, and two‑way radio.
- Ability to lift or move up to 50 pounds occasionally.
- Pass Colorado and FBI background checks.
EXPERIENCE:
- Work with at‑risk youth; experience in law enforcement or security preferred.
- Basic math, accounting, and English skills.
- Intermediate oral and written communication, interpersonal relations, computer, keyboarding, and organizational skills.
- Advanced customer service, public relations, critical thinking, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to manage confidentiality, multiple priorities, frequent interruptions, and diffuse volatile situations.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
