Purpose of the Position

Perform preventive maintenance, safety checks, corrective actions, upgrades and refurbishment on equipment at external or Hiab locations, following the Manager’s instructions. Contribute to productive customer relationships and adhere to best practices in all administrative and technical activities. Field service work will be carried out in the Salt Lake City, UT and surrounding areas.

Main Tasks and Responsibilities
  • Stay current with technical developments via service bulletins and courses.
  • Maintain knowledge of technical specifications of relevant equipment.
  • Respond to customers in a way that maximizes satisfaction, following Hiab Customer Satisfaction Guidelines.
  • Protect self and others, follow safety rules and environmental requirements, and report any safety concerns.
  • Operate and maintain the assigned service vehicle in compliance with Hiab policy and regulations.
  • Inspect, troubleshoot, report, plan and conduct service or repair as directed.
  • Submit regular reports and maintain accurate documentation.
  • Plan and manage time and resources for maximum benefit and cost‑effectiveness.
  • Ensure accurate invoicing and protect spare‑part security.
  • Recognize and communicate sales opportunities.
  • Provide feedback for continuous quality improvement and support innovative thinking.
  • Coach junior colleagues and trainees as necessary.
Accountabilities
  • Obtain and maintain a 1‑year DOT Medical Card.
  • Be mobile, adaptable and able to work in variable physical site conditions without direct supervision.
  • Hold a qualification from a higher vocational school in mechanical engineering, hydraulics, electrics or electronics, or equivalent experience.
  • Possess working technical knowledge of all HIAB product lines (mechanicals, hydraulics, electrics, electronics).
  • Have working knowledge of diesel engines and hydraulic drive systems.
  • Fluent in local language and working proficiency in English (spoken and written).
  • Hold operators licenses for all equipment used, in line with local requirements.
  • Maintain records in compliance with agreements.
  • Understand and comply with Hiab USA operating and technical procedures and workplace instructions.
  • Comply with all safety and environmental requirements.
  • Own necessary tools.
Education
  • Minimum high‑school diploma or GED required.
  • Technical or secondary college preferred.
Working Experience
  • 3+ years of mechanical, hydraulic or electrical operations preferred.
