Starting hiring salary - $22 hourly
DEFINITION
The Assistant Pool Manager is a key member of the leadership team responsible for the maintenance and operation of the Oasis Family Aquatics Park. With a strong focus on customer service, lifeguard direction, and pump room mechanics, this position must work well independently and with teams while providing excellent customer service, which supports the City of Brighton's mission and values.
SUPERVISION RECEIVED AND EXERCISEDWorks under the supervision of the Aquatics Supervisor and Aquatics Coordinator(s). The Assistant Pool Manager supervises all seasonal Aquatics employees, including head lifeguards, lifeguards, concessions workers, custodians and volunteers.
EXAMPLES OF ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIESPerforms all required daily and weekly inspections, checklists and documentation. This includes chemical records, safety inspections and personnel documentation.
Provides exceptional customer service and leadership to the public and staff.
Provides in-service training, supervision, and evaluation of all seasonal employees within the Aquatics Department.
Assists the Aquatics Coordinator(s) with scheduling and finding coverage.
Assists the Aquatics Coordinator(s) with keeping inventory and ordering supplies.
Performs other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Knowledge of:
Pool chemistry, mechanical systems, and pool maintenance procedures.
State and county regulations regarding the operation of aquatic facilities.
Ability to:
Train, supervise, evaluate and schedule staff.
Communicate effectively in both speaking and writing.
Perform all job duties of the Lifeguards and Head Lifeguards.
Provide medical care and direct staff through the Emergency Action Plan in the event of an emergency.
Work flexible hours, including nights, weekends and holidays.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEGraduation from high school or equivalent required. Previous experience with administrative and/or supervisory skills in the aquatic environment, as well as familiarity with participating in and supervising swimming pool operations. Minimum of two (2) years' experience managing aquatic staff.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSMust be able to lift a minimum of fifty (50) pounds.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTSPossession of a valid driver's license with a safe driving record.
Current American Red Cross LGI certification is required
Certified Pool Operator or Aquatics Facility Operator certification is highly desired.
Bilingual English/Spanish preferred.
