Pay & Benefits- $17/hr – $18/hr

- Minimum of one to two years of patient registration experience in a medical office or healthcare setting
- Excellent communication skills with physicians, patients, and the public; ability to establish good working relationships with internal and external customers
- Knowledge of insurance rules and regulations, medical terminology, and computer scheduling systems
- High School Diploma / GED required
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) strongly preferred
- Previous experience in collecting payments is preferred
- Promptly greet and acknowledge patients; inform MAs and providers of the patient’s arrival
- Instruct patients in completing medical history and patient information forms and make necessary corrections to the patient’s account
- Obtain accurate, complete demographic and insurance information and financial contracts/consent on patient paperwork; ensure all required authorizations and referrals are attached for the appointment
- Identify and collect copayments, coinsurance, and past‑due account balances
- Explain financial requirements to patients in response to billing and insurance questions; refer complex insurance/benefits questions to the Site Billing Specialist
- Evaluate patient financial status and establish payment plans based on authority levels
- Accurately complete and interpret insurance verification and benefits; notify patients, families, physicians, and supervisors of coverage issues that may result in coverage reduction
- Scan all new or updated patient information into the computer (including photo , insurance cards, referrals, and paperwork)
- Schedule follow‑up appointments; review insurance coverage and notify patient if authorization or referral is required, and send the request to PCP
- Maintain general knowledge of insurance plans accepted by HOPCo
- Communicate with patients in the lobby if physician or provider is running behind schedule
- Maintain a secure and accurate cash drawer; balance the drawer daily and close batch
- Maintain strict patient confidentiality
- Maintain a clean and organized front office workspace
- Follow established Front Office SOPs
- Demonstrate current competency for the role, including a general understanding of insurance requirements
