POSITIONSUMMARY
While working under the supervision of the Material Manager, the Shipping & Receiving Clerk is responsible for the scheduling, paperwork and physical movement of materials that are shipped to BNC’s customers. They are also responsible to receive incoming shipments of merchandise or other materials from suppliers.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSEvery Shipping and Receiving Clerk must have been issued a BNC Lift Truck License for the type of Lift Truck(s) operated, and must communicate, cooperate and function productively as a member of an employee work team as directed. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk provides the following services:
- Ship goods from the establishment
- Prepare records of goods shipped
- Make up bills of lading, post weight and shipping charges
- Keep files of shipping records
- Receive incoming shipments of merchandise or other materials
- Verify correctness of shipments against bills of lading, invoices, etc.
- Keep records of goods received, report damaged goods and shortages
- Route goods to the proper departments.
- Receives and processes goods per BNC guidelines.
- Safely moves raw, in-process and finished goods to support shipping and receiving activities.
- Scheduling and follow-up of suppliers that perform outside services, such as paint, heat treat, coating, etc.
- Performs other material control-related tasks as directed by management.
- Safely operates Lift Trucks at all times.
- Maintains assigned Lift Trucks, reporting mechanical or safety issues to the Supervisor immediately.
- Maintains and follows all Quality Department directives and record-keeping requirements.
- Maintains the work areas and equipment in a clean orderly condition and follows all prescribed safety regulations.
- Other duties as assigned.
High School Graduate or General Education Degree (GED).
ExperienceBasic Work skills applicable within a shipping & receiving environment.

- Reliability - Makes sure the needs of the organization are met by focusing on being productive, achieving quality goals and fulfilling commitments.
- Must have an adequate command of the English language, both written and spoken.
- Must be able to follow process flows, use simple math, and use basic hand held measuring tools.
- Must be able to record data.
- Workers may use bar code readers, computer terminals or other electronic devices.
