Senior Ecologist – Terrestrial
Join our multidisciplinary organisation as a Senior Ecologist and make a real impact on a wide range of projects.
What you will do- Lead and deliver protected species surveys from proposal through to completed ecological reports.
- Provide advice on mitigation measures and prepare technical documents such as Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Protected Species and Habitat Mitigation Strategies, Ecological Management Plans, Protected Species License applications and Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments.
- Serve as a technical expert throughout all stages of the project lifecycle, including Ecological Impact Assessments, Habitat Regulations Assessments and Method Statements.
- Assist in the planning and execution of ecological surveys, baseline data collection and report drafting.
- Extensive ecological expertise and at least 5 years’ experience on development projects, including baseline surveys and report preparation.
- Relevant degree or equivalent non‑degree qualification in environmental or ecological sciences.
- Demonstrated experience delivering Preliminary Ecological Appraisals, Ecological Impact Assessments, Protected Species and Habitat Mitigation Strategies, Ecological Management Plans, Protected Species License applications, and Biodiversity Net Gain Assessments.
- Natural England protected species survey licence, particularly for bats; named ecologist on mitigation licences is advantageous.
- Full CIEEM membership.
- Ecological Clerk of Works (ECoW) experience and/or liaison with contractors.
- Valid UK driving licence and willingness to travel occasionally.
- Excellent written and verbal communication, organisational, analytical and time‑management skills.
- Good interpersonal skills and a proactive, dependable, and self‑motivated attitude.
