Maintenance Technician / Mechanic
The role
As an Electrical Fitter within our Explosive Handling Jetty (EHJ) Facility, you’ll have a role that’s out of the ordinary. You’ll be at the heart of operations that support the UK’s defence capability. This is a hands‑on role where your expertise will directly contribute to the safety, reliability and performance of critical systems. You’ll be part of a close‑knit team, working in a dynamic environment that offers real career progression and personal growth.
Day‑to‑day you’ll be:
- Performing electrical fitting, repairs and inspections on systems and equipment
- Completing planned preventative maintenance and nuclear‑related tasks
- Identifying and resolving system defects to maintain operational readiness
- Suggesting improvements to systems and processes to boost productivity
- Working within Health & Safety legislation and Safe Systems of Work
This role is full time, 36 hours per week Monday to Thursday, 07:15 to 16:45 and is based on site at RNAD Coulport.
Essential experience of the Electrical Fitter- Previous experience in a marine or industrial engineering environment
- Skilled in electrical maintenance and fault finding
- Comfortable working at heights, in confined spaces and adverse weather
- Able to read technical drawings and solve problems independently
- Knowledge of maintenance procedures, COSHH and risk assessments
- Recognised Electrical Engineering Apprenticeship qualified to SVQ Level 3 (or NVQ or City & Guilds equivalent) or HNC and above in Electrical Engineering with relevant industry experience
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
