Job descriptionAbout this role
The School of Applied Sciences at UWE Bristol is one of the largest education centres for healthcare science in the UK. Three Healthcare Science Practitioner degree-apprenticeship programmes are offered, including Physiological Sciences, Clinical Engineering and Medical Physics Technology. The school also delivers four commissioned programmes: a PGCert in Clinical Echocardiography, a PGCert in Echocardiography for Congenital Heart Disease, a PGCert in Sleep Medicine and a Graduate Diploma in Respiratory Science.
We are seeking to appoint a Senior Lecturer in Healthcare Science (Cardiac) to support a range of established undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, including the Healthcare Science (Physiological Sciences) degree-apprenticeship and postgraduate Echocardiography programmes. This is a part‑time (0.4 FTE), fixed‑term (3 year) post that will focus on delivering excellence in teaching and academic support. Preference will be given to applicants with significant experience in clinical cardiac physiology, including echocardiography.

About you
Candidates will be expected to have a PhD in a subject relevant to this post or have a relevant master’s qualification with significant professional practice. We are looking for candidates with significant experience in clinical cardiac physiology. Successful candidates will be able to demonstrate experience of devising and delivering teaching related to cardiac physiology. Experience of supervising research projects, and module and/or programme development would be an advantage.
We are looking for candidates who align to the UWE values. Successful candidates should be able to demonstrate their experience of leading and motivating groups of people, collegiate working and their organisational skills. Successful candidates will be expected to demonstrate how they will keep abreast of latest developments in this subject area and external best practice benchmarks.
The successful candidate will be supported in this role by an experienced senior lecturer as a mentor. The school provides staff development funds to support personal and subject related training for academic staff.
