About the Opportunity
We're partnering with Airbus to recruit a Surface Technology Specialist-a fantastic opportunity for someone who wants to shape the future of sustainable materials and surface technologies within world‑class aircraft engineering.
You'll join an expert, supportive and internationally‑collaborative team working across the full aircraft lifecycle. From research and development to in‑service support, your work will help deliver more efficient, innovative and eco‑friendly surface technologies used across Airbus' aircraft family.
If you're passionate about corrosion protection, coatings, and cutting‑edge materials-and enjoy solving complex engineering challenges-this is a role where your expertise will truly make an impact.
What You'll Be Doing
You'll play a key role in developing and supporting technologies used to protect, enhance, and extend the life of aircraft materials. Your responsibilities will include:
Developing and deploying new materials, processes, and testing technologies for design and production.
Supporting the design and build of aircraft by providing corrosion protection and sealing solutions.
Delivering corrosion analysis and protection principles across all Airbus aircraft programmes.
Working on continuous improvement projects, including cost, time and performance enhancements.
Ensuring compliance with EHS and REACh regulations through eco‑efficient materials and processes.
Adapting existing surface technologies to chromate‑free environments as part of Airbus' sustainability goals.
What We're Looking For
Experience is highly valued-more so than formal qualifications. You'll likely have a background in aerospace, automotive, or materials engineering, and will bring expertise in some of the following:
Material Science, Chemistry, Materials or Chemical Engineering (or related experience).
Strong knowledge of corrosion protection, surface technology, metallic and composite materials.
Experience with surface treatments, coatings, sealants, and material testing (e.g., salt spray, corrosion, Volvo tests).
Ability to communicate clearly and work within a multi‑location, international team.
Confidence, initiative, integrity and a collaborative working style.
Comfortable working in English at a professional/technical level.
Why Join the Team?
Work within a high‑performing global team of specialists who are respected across the business.
Access professional training, development pathways and technical growth opportunities.
Contribute to Airbus' mission to deliver next‑generation sustainable aircraft technologies.
Join an inclusive and supportive environment where your wellbeing and development truly matter.
