About The Job

National Highways has an exciting opportunity within the South West region for a Lighting and Technology Engineer. Working alongside specialists, driving safety and supporting customer service, you will be helping to improve National Highways’ lighting and technology infrastructure.

As an Engineer you will be responsible for assisting with scheme delivery, using your technical and stakeholder skills to help shape and coordinate the identification of asset needs and development of lighting technology schemes in accordance with defined asset policies and standards. You will also support the National LED Roll out Programme, contributing the region’s asset led forward programme and initial scheme development.

This position will be based in Bristol or Exeter with a balance of remote and office-based work.

Please note that you will be required to drive as part of your role, and you will need to have no more than 3 points to be considered for this position and during employment.

About You
  • Degree or HND in relevant electrical / electronic or IT discipline, or equivalent qualifications to National Vocational Qualifications level three or above, with experience as a technician, managing or maintaining and repairing technology assets.
  • BS7671 IET Wiring Regulations certification or working towards.
  • Detailed knowledge of the lighting technology used on the Strategic Road Network, or Local Authority roads.
  • Broad understanding of supply chain, project/programme management in a highway environment, plus knowledge and application of relevant highways standards (specifically DMRB and MCHW).
  • Good stakeholder engagement skills with proven ability to work collaboratively across teams and supply chain.
  • Experience in relevant construction and delivery processes and working knowledge of CDM 2015.

External candidates will be offered a starting salary at the lower end of the pay scale although, subject to experience, this may be negotiable. Current employees will be appointed in accordance with our established pay policy.
