Rate: Up to £550/day

OverviewOur customer, a large defence organisation, is seeking an experienced Human Factors Lead Engineer to act as the Human Factors Subject Matter Expert on the AJAX programme.
The role will involve working closely with the prime contractor, General Dynamics, and Army stakeholders to assure delivery of design solutions where Human Factors considerations are key. The task directly supports the outstanding Human Factors aspects of the AJAX Programme, including closure of the Demonstration/V&V programme and key actions arising from the recent Army Safety Investigation Team (ASIT) investigation following the Titan Storm incident in November 2025.

The individual will report to the AJAX Engineering Lead as their Task Manager. They may also be tasked by the Demonstration Pillar Lead and other senior stakeholders.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe task comprises two key work streams:
Support to Demonstration/V&V/Systems Acceptance Activity- Provide Human Factors SME support to Demonstration, Verification & Validation and Systems Acceptance activity.
- Support the closure and acceptance of all System Requirements and outstanding design changes related to Human Factors concerns.
- Provide Human Factors SME support relating to the recent ASIT investigation and outputs from Titan Storm.
- Support closure of all ASIT/Titan Storm actions with Human Factors-related concerns.
- Closure and acceptance of all System Requirements and outstanding design changes related to Human Factors concerns.
- Closure of all ASIT/Titan Storm actions with Human Factors-related concerns.
- The role is based at MOD Abbey Wood, Bristol.
- The wider requirement includes attendance at the General Dynamics site in Merthyr Tydfil and the ability to support trials activity at other locations.
- SC Clearance required.
- UK nationals only.
- The core requirement runs to 31 March 2027, with a potential extension. The extension is subject to customer requirements and is not guaranteed.
