Registered Veterinary Nurse – Small Animal (12‑Month Fixed‑Term Contract)

An experienced Veterinary Nurse will join a full‑time ward shift team on a 12‑month fixed term contract. The role offers excellent opportunities to develop nursing skills through ward shifts, operating support, and running nursing clinic lists, in a supportive, coaching‑focused environment.

• Work a varied rota across a five‑day week, with 8‑hour shifts scheduled between 7:30 am and 9:00 pm.
• Join weekend day rota for Emergency Veterinary Service, on a 1‑in‑6 basis with days off the following week.
• Provide nursing care on the inpatient team, support operations and procedures, and run nursing clinic lists.
• Assist and train student veterinary nurses as part of the large friendly team.
• Collaborate with multidisciplinary referral departments for medicine, ophthalmology, orthopaedics, surgery, oncology, imaging, neurology, and dentistry.
• Participate in the dedicated OOH team ensuring continuity for patients.

• Registered Veterinary Nurse with RCVS level 2/3 (or equivalent).
• Experience in small animal nursing, ward shifts, and clinic lists.
• Strong communication skills and a willingness to coach and develop junior staff.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends, and adapt to a bustling hospital environment.
• Knowledge of RCVS accredited practices and commitment to clinical excellence.
