Role Description

The South West Regional Organised Crime Unit are recruiting aFraud and Cyber Prevent Protect Prepare Advisor, to reduce the overall impact fromfraud and cybercrime in the Southwest Region through raising awareness, information sharing and promoting preventative measures that allow individuals and businesses to protect themselves.

In this role you will be able to have a positive impact on thefuture prospectsof those people who are at risk of criminalitythrough fraud and cybercrime. You will educate, inform, and inspire people at all levels working as part of a UK-wide team to help make the UK the safest place to live and do business. You will alsoidentifyand divert people away fromfraud andcyber dependant crime.

SWROCU is a collaboration of police officers and police staff fromthefive

South Westregional forces.

We’repart of a national network of nine ROCUs covering England and Wales.

We have more than 20 capabilities thatstaff and officersworkinto Pursue offenders, Protect and Prepare individuals and organisations, and Prevent people from engaging in serious and organised crime.

Our capabilities are here to advise, toassist, or to fully adopt investigations.

Wework with local forces and national partners to target and disrupt criminals posing the greatest risk of Serious and Organised Criminality (SOC). This includes offenders involved in cyber threats, economic crime, drug conspiracies, modern slavery and human trafficking, and child sexual abuse and exploitation.

Skills,experience and qualifications required

  • The post holder must be computer literate andpossessstrong interpersonal skills. They will have experience of conveying technical matters to anon technicalaudience and have proven ability to work under pressure and prioritise their workload. A knowledge of the threats posed by fraud andcyber crimeis also essential.
  • Previous experience of working in a fraud and cyber security environment or the holding of a relevant qualification would be advantageous. Experience of working in partnership with private industry and of media engagement and message delivery are also desirable.
  • The post holder should ideally hold a full current driving licence or be able to travel around the region using suitable transport.
