Job Overview
As a Computer Vision and Artificial Intelligence Engineer within the Image Processing UK department, you will play a critical role in the development of MBDA products and technologies. You will research, develop and evaluate world‑beating algorithms that form part of the next generation of complex weapon systems. You will be an essential team member, working with imaging sensors to provide situational awareness and guide weapons to their target with maximum precision.
WorkingConditions
Salary:
Up to £62,000 depending on experience (subject to UK salary band). Dynamic hybrid working: 4–5 days per week on‑site.
Security clearance required:
British citizen or dual UK national with British citizenship. All successful candidates must undergo HMG Basic Personnel Security Standard checks (BPSS). Nationality and/or rights to work restrictions may apply; the role is UK‑based.
- Research, design and validate computer vision algorithms for missile and weapon systems.
- Develop segmentation, filter design, noise removal, compression, super‑resolution, tracking, optical flow, particle filtering, pose estimation, deep‑learning detection, classification and Siamese networks.
- Implement inverse‑problem and computational imaging methods such as sparse coding and compressive sensing.
- Apply machine‑learning techniques including support vector machines, neural networks and develop signal‑processing solutions for multi‑/hyper‑spectral, RF, IR, SAR, STAP environments.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams across MBDA sites in France and Germany.
- Participate in workshops and conferences and contribute to international knowledge exchange.
- PhD (or PhD coursework), post‑doctoral or industry experience in computer vision/AI preferred; if not, a degree with strong mathematical content (e.g., Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science).
- Proven experience with MATLAB/Simulink and Python (PyTorch).
- Strong curiosity about cutting‑edge technologies and their application.
- Specific knowledge in any of the following areas is beneficial:
Image‑processing algorithms (segmentation, filter design, noise removal, compression, super‑resolution), computer‑vision algorithms (tracking, optical flow, particle filtering, pose estimation), deep‑learning techniques (detection, classification, tracking, Siamese networks), inverse problems / computational imaging (sparse coding, compressive sensing), machine‑learning methods (SVM, neural networks), domain‑specific signal processing (multi‑/hyper‑spectral, RF, IR, SAR, STAP). - Good communication and teamwork skills.
