Position OverviewPOSITION TITLE: City-Wide Para educator
DEPARTMENT: Currently at Greene-Hills School
REPORTS TO: Special Education Teacher
SUMMARY: Assist in small group and individual pupil instruction.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist students with instruction under the direction of the special education teacher.
- Assist teacher in maintaining discipline.
- Assist teacher with instructional activities.
- Escort students from room to room.
- Toileting students is sometimes required.
- Involves work with both special education and regular students.
- Assist teaching staff in the implementation of IEP.
- Supervise students while they are at recess and lunch.
- Assist students with classroom assignments.
- Copy materials for instructional purposes.
- Assist teacher in filing material and preparing all necessary paperwork. >
- May require supporting with toileting of students.
- PMT required and provided by district.
Alert teachers to problems that may be observed.
- Education: High School Diploma or General Education Degree. Two years of college credit or hold an associate’s (or higher) degree; or successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment.

Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. - Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. - Computer
Skills:
Basic knowledge and experience with job related computer hardware and software applications. - Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions.
- Other
Skills:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. - Physical Demands: Must be able to push items of fifty pounds, occasionally lift and/or move up to fifty pounds, stand, walk, body posture tasks, vision requirements.
Salaries are provided by contractual agreement.
Work hours:
6.5 hours per day (8:00 am to 3:00 pm).

As soon as possible.
