Overview
Para educator 1:1, currently at Mountain View Elementary School
Responsibilities- Assist students with instruction under the direction of the special education teacher.
- Assist teacher in maintaining discipline.
- Assist teacher with instructional activities.
- Escort students from room to room.
- Toileting students is sometimes required.
- Involves work with both special education and regular students.
- Assist teaching staff in the implementation of IEP.
- Supervise students while they are at recess and lunch.
- Assist students with classroom assignments.
- Copy materials for instructional purposes.
- Assist teacher in filing material and preparing all necessary paperwork.
- Alert teachers to problems that may be observed.
- May require supporting with toileting of students.
- PMT required.
- Education and/or
Experience:
High School Diploma or GED. Two years of college credit OR an associate’s degree; OR successful completion of a paraprofessional assessment (Parapro Assessment). - Language
Skills:
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations. - Mathematical
Skills:
Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10s and 100s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance. - Computer
Skills:
Basic knowledge and experience with job related computer hardware and software applications. - Reasoning Ability: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations.

Skills and Abilities:
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with students, staff and the community. Ability to perform duties with awareness of district requirements and Board of Education policies. - Physical Demands: Regularly required to sit, talk or hear; stand, walk, climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl. Able to push items up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift/move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities include close, distance and peripheral vision.
- Work Environment: Noise level typical of classrooms; may work throughout the school building, on school grounds and occasionally off campus. Responsible for student safety and well-being.
- Salary: Per contractual agreement
- Work Hours: 6.5 hours per day (30 min break), 8:40am - 3:40pm
- Date of Service: ASAP
