SummaryThe Recharge Director serves as the instructional and operational lead for the RECHARGE tutoring program, providing intensive academic intervention to students, coordinating the daily operations of the program, and ensuring strong communication among staff, students, and families. The role includes planning, monitoring academic growth, supporting staff, and contributing to a positive and productive learning environment.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities- Assist in the planning, development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the RECHARGE tutoring program.
- Lead regular team meetings to review student progress, discuss instructional strategies, address program needs, and ensure effective communication across staff.
- Collaborate with administrators to ensure program structures, schedules, and expectations are aligned and functioning smoothly.
- Collaborate with administrators, counselors, and teachers to identify students who would benefit from participation in the program.
- Review academic data, attendance patterns, behavioral indicators, and teacher referrals to determine eligibility and prioritize students with the greatest need.
- Communicate with identified students and families regarding program expectations, schedules, and required commitments.
- Monitor enrollment and work with staff to adjust groupings, caseloads, or supports based on emerging student needs.
- Provide specialized individual and small-group academic intervention to at‑risk students in assigned subject areas.
- Work with teachers and staff to identify student needs, learning profiles, and appropriate intervention strategies.
- Track student academic growth and submit written progress reports, maintaining accurate documentation for each student.
- Communicate regularly with parents/guardians regarding student participation, progress, concerns, and next steps.
- Support ongoing family engagement to promote student success and consistent participation.
- Support positive student behavior by modeling expectations, reinforcing program norms, and addressing behavioral concerns in alignment with program policies.
- Assist with student discipline within the program, including documentation, communication with families, and coordination with administration when necessary.
- Maintain a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment.
- Interpret assessment data, classroom performance, and progress monitoring results to inform instructional planning and intervention decisions.
- Participate in collaborative meetings (e.g., student support teams) as needed to discuss at‑risk students and recommended supports.
- Be accessible to students and families for academic support, questions, and guidance.
- Maintain ongoing communication with teachers and administrators regarding student progress and program needs.
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and or ability required.
- Valid Connecticut Teaching Certificate.
- Mathematical skills: addition, subtraction, multiplication, division, rate, ratio, percent, bar graph interpretation, basic algebra, and geometry.
- Computer skills: basic use of standard hardware and software applications, including email, word processing, accounting, databases, and presentations.
- Reasoning ability: solving practical problems in situations with limited standardization and interpreting diverse instructions.
- Other skills and abilities: apply current research and teaching competencies to instructional programs; plan and implement lessons based on school objectives and student needs; establish effective relationships with students, peers, and parents; strong oral and written communication; awareness of district requirements and Board policies.
Frequent standing, talking, hearing, occasional walking and sitting; close vision required for reading handwritten or typed material; interaction with the public and staff.

Hours / Salary15 hours per week for the 8 weeks of the program (120 hours) plus approximately 25 hours of preparation. 2:15 pm – 5:15 pm. Salary: $5,832.42 stipend.
