Data Center Server Hardware Support Technician

Corserva is actively seeking full-time Data Center Server Hardware Support Technicians to work onsite at our client location in the Bristol, CT area. Salary: $55,000 - $67,000 per year.

Bristol, CT.

Responsibilities

Installation and configuration of systems, firmware updates, hardware diagnostics and repair, vendor coordination, inventory tracking, and routine walk-throughs of equipment rooms.
Proactive monitoring, alert response, and participation in incident response and planning sessions.

Technical Skills

Installation of components across servers, storage, desktops, and laptops.

Perform ILO/IDRAC type configuration and cable connecting.

Execute pre-installation and firmware setup tasks.

Connect network cabling and coordinate with Security to open necessary ports.

Labeling Systems with machine names.

Prepare, pack, and ship systems for remote deployments.

System imaging/Windows and Linux using automated tools and ISO’s.

Updating installed assets in CMBD.

System and Equipment Removal

Break down and recover parts from decommissioned servers.

Follow documented procedures for decommissioning activities.

Update decommissioning data in internal reports and tracking systems.

Storage

Assist with troubleshooting and break-fix as needed for the storage team.

Maintain up-to-date records of spare parts and spare system pools.

Track and manage deployed hardware inventory.

Firmware & Patch Management

Adhere to organizational policies for firmware updates and notifications.

Apply updates as directed by leadership.

Review and address customer advisories.

Data Center Walk Throughs

Conduct routine walkthroughs of all active and future data center rooms.

Inspect designated systems for error indicators and report findings.

Monitoring and Notifications

Monitor critical systems for performance or failure alerts.

Add/remove hosts in monitoring systems and update monitoring software as required.

Respond to email alerts and pager duty notifications.

Break/Fix

Respond to alerts and error messages.

Re-image local and remote sites, Windows and Linux using automated tools and ISO’s.

Repair systems (hardware).

Coordinate/remote troubleshoot and follow through to resolve repairs at remote sites.

Coordinate parts, open vendor tickets, and arrange tech onsite for repair.

Coordinate and escort onsite vendors for repairs.

Participation in planning sessions, including creating, updating, and closing tickets.

Incidents/Work Orders – break/fix, logging incidents, following documented procedures for incident work.
