Overview

Production Line Operator role at Metal Finishing Technologies, LLC involves the safe, accurate, and efficient operation of an aerospace plating line in accordance with MFT procedures, ensuring the successful plating of electroless nickel parts. The role also includes providing technical assistance and training to colleagues.

Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required
  • 1-2 years of experience in electroless nickel plating, metal finishing/plating, or related training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Ability to follow instructions precisely
  • Keen attention to detail and awareness of the job’s requirements
  • Familiarity with all substrates processed on an aerospace plating line
  • Knowledge of applicable stripping procedures
  • Capability to lift up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds occasionally
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Accurately plate parts and complete tasks as scheduled or outlined in predefined lists
  • Strip electroless nickel tanks and perform passivation as needed
  • Safely transfer solutions between tanks using pumps and proper valve alignment
  • Standardize, calibrate, and operate the electroless nickel controller
  • Monitor chemical levels and replenish materials when required
  • Maximize output from the process line, including managing multiple jobs at once
  • Conduct chemical analyses of E/N solutions and adjust as necessary based on results
  • Clean anode and cathode bars daily; add anodes as required
  • Clean horns and saddles three times weekly
  • Accurately complete work order tickets, daily line logs, customer part riders, and related paperwork
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work environment
  • Monitor equipment conditions and recommend repairs or replacements as needed
  • Activate parts using approved procedures
  • Suggest and implement improvements in areas such as processing steps, fixturing, or part handling
  • Read and execute instructions from printed work orders
  • Ensure customer parts meet all work order specifications
  • Comply with MFT, customer, and quality control standards including thickness, color, brightness, and coverage
  • Provide technical support to rackers, packers, and dryers on the process line
  • Train fellow employees on MFT processes as needed
  • Prepare chemical additions and make-up solutions as directed by the lab
  • Test acid concentration as part of process control
  • Bake parts when required to meet customer specifications
  • Operate acid and hand pumps and handle solution transfers
  • Maintain a safe working environment by handling chemicals such as acids, alkalis, and oxidizers properly
  • Adhere to safety committee, EHS department, and MFT safety requirements
  • Perform other duties as assigned
