Assistant Teacher – en Circle
The Assistant Teacher position is primarily responsible for assisting with student instruction and behavioral supports in the Minnick Schools – a system of private day schools for students with special needs. We are looking for motivated individuals that desire to affect positive change in young people’s lives through daily classroom and community‑based instruction.

- High School diploma/GED with minimum of one year’s experience in working with students who receive special education services, mental health and/or other direct services.
- Basic computer skills and experience working with Microsoft Office.
- Valid Virginia Drivers’ License and proof of insurance if assigned driver.
- Satisfactory Driving Record.
- Ability to understand and build rapport with students with special needs.
- Potential for summer employment.
- Monday‑Friday – 8:00am‑4:00pm.
- Assist teacher with classroom management, academic instruction, and behavioral support.
- Implement behavior intervention plans and strategies as directed.
- With provided training, obtain Safety Care certification and implement Safety Care strategies to respond to and de‑escalate negative behaviors.
- Maintain student records and assigned documentation in a timely manner.
- Maintain confidentiality of student and school personnel information.
- Maintain professional boundaries in all interactions with students and staff.
- Assist classroom teacher with supervision of students; provide instruction and supervision of students when the teacher is not present.
- Attend staff meetings, parent meetings, IEP meetings as requested.
- Attend work regularly and arrive in a timely fashion.
- Communicate professionally and convey dignity and respect to students, parents, co‑workers, and other professionals.
