Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 (IV Compounding) – 2nd Shift
The Automation Pharmacy Technician 4 (IV Compounding) will be responsible for maintaining all unit-dose medications required for daily dispensing from the Omnicell automated IV equipment. The role includes preparing and maintaining the Omnicell IV automated equipment for daily use, performing advanced equipment troubleshooting, maintaining optimal medication inventory levels, and reviewing and maintaining reports.
Responsibilities- Perform IV automation tasks in an aseptic, error‑free manner.
- Clean and maintain IV automation equipment.
- Follow safe handling of hazardous drugs procedures when handling medications.
- Identify and order medications to keep inventories at optimal levels.
- Monitor and order consumable supplies required for the equipment operation.
- Perform advanced troubleshooting and prescribed maintenance of IV automation equipment; report unresolved issues to the IV HD.
- Maintain high‑level communication with the pharmacy services manager and customers to ensure proactive, solution‑oriented problem resolution.
- Comply with IV compounding procedures, policies, and guidelines established by the customer facility.
- Complete negative fingertip and media fill sampling.
- Maintain state and/or national credentialing to meet established guidelines.
- Good organizational skills; accurate, reliable, and efficient.
- Demonstrated customer‑facing skills.
- Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem‑solving skills.
- Ability to work with mechanical equipment.
- Working knowledge of computer hardware and PC Windows.
- High school diploma or GED.
- Active National Pharmacy Technician Certificate (PTCB/NHA‑CPhT or EXCPT).
- Active State Board of Pharmacy Technician License/Registration with the State of TN (if required).
- Preferred: 1+ year of IV compounding experience.
- COVID‑19 vaccination status.
- Advanced troubleshooting skills with automation devices.
- Subject‑matter expert for Pharmacy Services department.
- 2+ years of IV compounding experience.
- Hospital/inpatient pharmacy technician experience.
- Knowledge of safe handling of hazardous medications.
- Proficiency in PPE and hand hygiene techniques.
- Working knowledge of sterile environment requirements.
- Knowledge of pharmacy automation systems.
- Location:
1 Medical Park Blvd., Bristol, TN 37620. - Shift: 2nd (Evening) – 12:00 PM to 9:00 PM (3 openings).
- Hospital pharmacy environment.
- Must be able to stand for several hours.
- Potential exposure to hazardous drugs.
- Must be able to travel.
- Ability to lift 25–30 lbs.
Base hourly rate: $25+/hour (state of Tennessee). Compensation may vary with location, experience, and skillset.
