Accounts Senior (Recently Qualified) | £40k–£52k | Practice Role
An opportunity to join a growing accounts and business advisory practice that supports entrepreneurial and high‑growth businesses with tailored accounting and advisory solutions. The role is office‑based within a small, collaborative team and is well suited to an ambitious and adaptable individual seeking their next step in practice.
Qualifications and Systems Experience- ACA or ACCA recently qualified
- Strong experience using cloud accounting software (particularly Xero), alongside exposure to Quick Books and Sage Line 50
- Confident working with Excel‑based cash books
- Experience with accounts production and practice software (IRIS desirable)
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and wider Microsoft Office tools
- Strong general IT literacy
- Solid practical experience gained within public practice (preferred)
- Proven ability to prepare statutory and annual accounts for a varied client portfolio, including SMEs and limited companies
- Strong understanding of UK accounting standards and compliance requirements
- Experience preparing corporation tax computations and CT600 returns
- Experience reviewing the work of junior staff and providing guidance and support
- Preparation of statutory and annual accounts from client records
- Preparation of draft business tax computations
- Production of complete year‑end accounting files with supporting schedules for balance sheet items
- Delivery of ad‑hoc advisory work as required
- Building and maintaining strong professional relationships with clients and colleagues
- Managing client expectations, providing proactive advice and delivering work to agreed deadlines
- Delegating tasks to junior team members and overseeing their progress
- Mentoring trainees and supporting their technical and professional development
- Supporting senior team members with client portfolio management
- Ensuring compliance with professional standards and internal procedures
- Contributing to process improvements and promoting efficient working practices
- Confident communicator with colleagues at all levels and with clients
- Provides clear guidance and constructive feedback to junior staff
- Handles client queries promptly, professionally and diplomatically
- Produces clear and well‑structured management letters and financial summaries
- Adapts communication style to suit different audiences and client needs
- Maintains professionalism in time‑pressured or challenging situations
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work independently
- High attention to detail with excellent accuracy and reliability
- Demonstrates integrity, confidentiality, self‑motivation and professionalism
