Clark Wood is working with a leading Top 20 UK accountancy and advisory firm that is looking to recruit an Accounts Senior into its growing Business Advisory team in Bristol.

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced practice accountant looking for a genuinely varied position combining year-end accounts, management accounts, tax, VAT and wider business advisory work.

You’ll work with an interesting and diverse portfolio of businesses and individuals, taking greater ownership of assignments while developing strong relationships with clients.

The position also offers the opportunity to support and mentor junior colleagues, making it particularly attractive for an ambitious Accounts Senior looking to progress towards Assistant Manager and Manager level.

As an Accounts Senior, you will:

• Prepare year-end accounts and financial statements for a varied portfolio of clients
• Prepare management accounts, forecasts and financial projections
• Prepare personal and corporation tax computations
• Prepare and submit VAT returns
• Provide bookkeeping and accounting support where required
• Analyse financial information and provide meaningful insight to clients
• Manage assignments against agreed budgets and deadlines
• Identify technical and client-specific issues and recommend appropriate solutions
• Liaise directly with clients and build strong working relationships
• Work closely with colleagues across tax, audit and other specialist departments
• Supervise, coach and support junior members of the team
• Take increasing responsibility for your own portfolio and workload

The successful candidate will ideally have:

• Previous experience working within an accountancy practice
• Experience preparing statutory and year-end accounts
• AAT, ACA or ACCA qualification, or be working towards qualification
• Experience preparing management accounts would be advantageous
• Exposure to corporation tax, personal tax and VAT
• Experience using cloud or automated accounting software
• Strong Excel and general IT skills
• Confidence managing your own workload and deadlines
• Strong communication and client-facing skills
• A proactive and commercially minded approach
• An interest in progressing within Business Advisory

• £32,000 - £42,000 salary
