Programme Coordinator

The West of England Mayoral Combined Authority is looking for a well‑organised and motivated Programme Coordinator to join the Democratic Services team. The role is key to supporting project and programme managers to understand governance arrangements and to schedule briefings necessary to deliver timely decision‑making in a democratic organisation. It gives the post holder significant insight into the plans and projects that will deliver the ambitious vision for the region.

Responsibilities
  • Provide programme support to key parts of the organisation’s decision pathway.
  • Ensure projects and programmes have the right engagement with senior officers and political leaders.
  • Support the briefings and approvals process for projects throughout their lifecycle and at key internal and regional meetings.
  • Schedule and forward‑plan briefings and meeting agendas, working with project and programme managers to ensure timely decisions.
  • Provide support to senior staff meetings, ensuring meetings run smoothly, papers and briefings are prepared and circulated in good time, minutes are taken and actions followed up.
  • Coordinate and support reporting requirements of organisational processes, including the decision pathway and forward plan, to meet governance and assurance requirements.
  • Maintain an audit trail and appropriate visibility for decisions and approvals.
  • Operate with confidence in the Office IT suite and knowledge of local government project processes.
  • Deal effectively with senior managers and partners, providing high‑quality advice and support.
Qualifications
  • Highly organised with strong communication skills.
  • Ability to prioritise and handle multiple issues concurrently.
  • Knowledge of project management and local government project processes.
  • Proficiency with the Office IT suite.
  • Comfortable working in a fast‑paced environment and inspired by the opportunity to support regionally significant projects.
