Credit Controller (12 Month Contract) – Sampson/Carnegie

About the RoleAs a credit controller you will manage your own portfolio of customers, building and nurturing strong relationships. You will use your communication skills over the phone and email to represent our company professionally, chase overdue debt, handle inbound queries and liaise with internal stakeholders such as account managers and other departments. Your main goal is to reduce debtor days, prevent legal escalations, and resolve queries quickly and effectively.
Key Responsibilities- Pro‑actively handle both due and overdue debt, ensuring queries are resolved effectively.
- Build strong relationships with internal and external customers and other agencies.
- Take accountability for and ownership of your allocated ledger.
- Improve the percentage of debts paid to terms.
- Effectively reduce aged debt.
- Escalate accounts in line with agreed collection paths.
- Process credit card payments as required.
- Participate in monthly debt conference calls with internal stakeholders.
- Proven customer service experience.
- Excellent customer service skills; assertive and professional at all times.
- Effective communication skills over both phone and email, maintaining good relations.
- Pro‑active and tenacious approach to work.
- Resilient attitude towards challenging scenarios.
- Ability to build effective relationships with internal and external customers.
- Some credit control experience is desirable.
