Overview

Here at Nature Positive, part of the RSK Group, we are looking for a Consultant to join Nature Positive's human rights and social sustainability team. You will contribute to client‑facing consultancy projects on human rights and social sustainability and participate in business development and cross‑selling activities within Nature Positive and the wider RSK Group. You will report to Nature Positive's Principal Human Rights Consultant.

This role requires excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills, research and analysis and an understanding of business and human rights legislation and standards.

Responsibilities
  • Project delivery:
    Work on and contribute to delivery of client projects in human rights and social sustainability, ensuring work is completed on time, within budget, and to high technical and quality standards.
  • Technical expertise:
    Input into core human rights and social sustainability focus areas, which may include human rights due diligence, risk and impact assessments, stakeholder engagement, labour rights analysis, and related disciplines developed within the organisation. (The focus will be on external clients, although this may also include RSK Group human rights and social value work as needed.)
  • Business development:
    Under supervision, contribute to growth of the practice through involvement in research, client meetings, proposal development, competitive tenders, pitches, and presentations. Support growth opportunities within Nature Positive and across the RSK Group, helping to identify, shape, and progress opportunities linked to human rights, just transition and social sustainability.
  • Methodology & tools:
    Contribute to the development, refinement, and application of tools and approaches for assessing human rights risks, social impact, and related ESG performance at corporate or project level.
  • Research and insight:
    Under supervision, contribute to research and strategic insights.
  • Communication & collaboration:
    Work effectively with colleagues, partners, clients, and stakeholders at appropriate levels.
  • Reporting & analysis:
    Prepare high‑quality written outputs including assessments, analytical reports, document reviews, and data‑driven insights.
  • Build capability across the team by supporting technical skill development and sharing knowledge e.g. lunch and learns and identifying training opportunities for other team members.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Minimum of 18 months' of professional experience in human rights, social sustainability, or related fields.
  • Demonstrable research skills and applied experience.
  • A solid basic understanding of human rights and social sustainability issues including human rights and sustainability legislation such as UK Modern Slavery Act, Australian Modern Slavery Act, Canadian Forced Labour Act, CSDDD and CSRD, and key standards such as OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises and UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) and ILO standards.
Desirable qualifications and experience
  • A relevant postgraduate qualification.
  • Broader awareness of ESG and sustainability trends as they apply to corporate practice.
  • Experience in a fast‑paced consultancy environment or significant in‑house experience managing human rights programmes.
  • Membership (graduate or otherwise) of a relevant professional institution (e.g. IEMA).
  • Any business development or commercial experience, such as contributing to proposals.
  • Demonstrated experience of delivering projects for diverse clients and sectors.
Skills & Personal Attributes
  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to present complex information clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), with the ability to analyse and synthesise data and produce polished, engaging reports for varied audiences.
  • Ability to maintain trusted relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of multidisciplinary teams.
  • Excellent project management skills with a record of delivering high‑quality outcomes.
  • Initiative and confidence allied with sound judgement.
  • A flexible, positive attitude with excellent problem‑solving and analytical skills.
  • A people person and good team player, able to work autonomously or as part of a team as required.
  • Enthusiastic, well‑organised, proactive and self‑motivated.
