Job Summary

We have an exciting opportunity to work as an Appointed Person on the Hinkley Point C project. In this site‑based role you will report to the Construction Manager, support the site construction team, and work within a 10‑day on‑site, 4‑day weekend rotation. The position offers overtime and weekend pay rates in line with the site ESCA agreement.

Responsibilities
  • Ensure lifting activities under the Amentum scope comply with legislation, standards, COPs and the NNB lifting standard.
  • Promote and maintain health and safety, including site inspections to ensure safety rules are implemented and support a positive nuclear safety culture.
  • Assist the Lifting Appointed Person (Lifting AP) with compliance to all nuclear safety and site licence requirements.
  • Compile and produce weekly and monthly reports for upward review.
  • Ensure resources are available to meet organisational requirements in line with the delivery schedule.
  • Support the Lifting Team to deliver the project on time, within budget and quality.
  • Develop lifting procedures, coordination plans, lift studies and lift plans.
  • Assess day‑to‑day activities and report into planning to prioritise lifting tasks.
  • Record all lifting operation delays.
  • Assist in developing best practical and innovative lift solutions.
  • Coordinate lifts alongside multiple project and construction management teams to ensure smooth operations and managed logistics around the site.
  • Witness lifts on site and provide immediate support as required.
Qualifications
  • Previous experience as a Lifting Lead on construction projects.
  • Ability to work in pressurised environments.
  • Extensive lifting experience (preferably engineered lifts).
  • Knowledge of small frame lifting equipment such as spider cranes, pick‑up and carry electric cranes, pico lifts and Genie units.
  • Proven experience using AutoCAD and the Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
  • Certifications:

    CPCS A61 Appointed Person, competent operator (Blue Card), NVQ Level 3 ACE card in steel erecting/moving loads, ECITB Appointed Person Moving Loads with TAP
    01 OSH, Managing Safely.
  • Experience with heavy lift planning involving mobile cranes and/or loose lifting equipment.
  • Familiarity with Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations (LOLER) and Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations (PUWER) or international equivalents.
  • Ability to collaborate in a client/contractor project office.
  • Good communication skills and experience interfacing with clients and work coordinators on lifting and rigging matters.
  • Experience managing rigging equipment stock.
Security Clearance

Employment is subject to meeting relevant security requirements. Applicants must have, or be able to obtain, Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) clearance and either Security Check (SC) or Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. Non‑British nationals or dual nationals may be subject to additional evaluation based on nationality and nature of work.
