It relies on someone who understands the numbers, protects the margins and keeps commercial decisions moving at the same pace as the project itself.
This is an opportunity to join a growing structural steel contractor delivering a diverse range of fabrication and construction projects across the UK. With a healthy pipeline of work and continued investment in the business, they're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to become a key part of their commercial team.
You'll work alongside project managers, clients and subcontractors, helping ensure projects are delivered commercially as well as technically.
The Role You'll play a key role in the commercial success of structural steel projects by:
Managing project costs from contract award through to final account.
Preparing valuations, cost reports and managing contract variations.
Working closely with project teams to monitor budgets and maximise project profitability.
Reviewing drawings, specifications and tender documentation to identify commercial opportunities and risks.
Supporting procurement activities and subcontractor negotiations.
Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers and project stakeholders throughout the project lifecycle.
This is a varied role where your commercial expertise will directly influence the success of multiple live projects.
What You'll Need Essential Previous Quantity Surveying experience within structural steel, heavy fabrication or construction.
Strong knowledge of cost management, procurement and contract administration.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and project specifications.
Excellent commercial awareness with strong analytical and numerical skills.
Confident communication skills and the ability to build relationships with clients and subcontractors.
Desirable Experience using Quantity Surveying software such as CostX, Estimator or similar.
Relevant qualification in Quantity Surveying or a related construction discipline.
Experience working on structural steel fabrication projects.
