Company Description

Our Media is a leading special‑interest content business, based in the buzzing, creative city of Bristol. We’re home to market‑leading brands in craft, cycling, science and nature, homes and music.

We help our audiences pursue their passions through highly trusted, original content – in print, video and online. Our much‑loved brands include BBC Science Focus, BBC Wildlife Magazine, Your Home, Gathered.how, Bike Radar and Cycling Plus.

We also have an award‑winning content agency that works with major charities, brands and membership organisations to help them tell their stories and engage audiences better – in print, video and online.

Position

We are seeking an experienced Operations Editor to join the Homes & Antiques team and oversee the smooth delivery of print and digital content.

Homes & Antiques is a respected and long‑established magazine that celebrates design, antiques and interiors with a rich mix of past and present. We produce 13 print issues a year, alongside special editions, and have a burgeoning digital presence across multiple platforms.

The Operations Editor will be central to maintaining high editorial standards, managing production workflows, and ensuring seamless collaboration between teams. Reporting into the Editor, you will oversee the editorial production of the magazine and digital mini‑magazines, as well as wider content across multiple platforms, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and efficiency in both print and digital formats.

You will be responsible for organising and managing the copyflow alongside the Editor and Deputy Editor, ensuring deadlines are met and a consistent editorial tone is maintained across all outputs. The role demands exceptional editorial and production experience, the highest level of subbing and organisational skills, outstanding attention to detail, and the ability to thrive under a busy production schedule.

Responsibilities

Production workflow:

  • Oversee page production, monitoring flow and troubleshooting to make sure that the process runs smoothly without bottlenecks.
  • Organise weekly production meetings and keep the flatplan up to date.
  • Maintain the agreed schedules and ensure that the teams are aware of, and adhere to, them.
  • Manage digital content production, including Apple News, digital editions, newsletters and CMS uploads.

Page production:

  • Meticulous subbing of copy to maintain accuracy, quality and the brand's editorial style and tone.
  • Ensuring all picture and feature credits are correct.
  • Page fitting.
  • Liaising with contributors.
  • Final proofing of print and digital issues.

Writing:

  • Writing heads, sells and captions for print and digital.

General:

  • Maintaining an awareness of key developments within the interiors world.
  • Assisting in general office admin when required.
A Bit About You

Essential:

  • Exceptional writing, sub-editing, and proofreading skills with the ability to create informative and engaging copy.
  • Highest standard of accuracy and attention to detail.
  • Excellent organisational abilities, with experience of managing editorial processes and prioritising workloads.
  • Proficiency in Adobe InDesign, Word, Excel, and general Mac skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across teams and external partners.
  • Ability to work in a busy and dynamic team environment. Have flexibility and a professional approach.
  • Ability to work to tight deadlines and to remain calm under pressure.
  • Proven experience of running a complex magazine production process.

Desirable:

  • Knowledge of the interiors and antiques market, or at least a keen personal interest in home decor.
  • Familiarity with creating content for digital platforms, including websites, Apple News, newsletters and social media.
