We are looking for an experienced Animatic Editor to join the team on a new 2D preschool animated series. Working closely with the Series Director, Storyboard Supervisor and Production team, you will take ownership of the editorial process from storyboard through to final animatic delivery.

Created by Tanya Scott and Sam Morrison, The Underglow introduces preschoolers to a hidden, magical garden, a world just out of sight from humans. The Underglow inhabitants portray an understanding of the value of everything: from the world they live in, to the people they know, to the items they often find, which they use in new and imaginative ways.

Working in partnership with Finnish animation production studio Gigglebug to produce the new series, The Underglow is all about inspiring curiosity and wonder in children and was developed in partnership with the BBC as part of BBC Ignite.

A Productions is an award-winning animation studio based in central Bristol. Our success in creating engaging, original and award-winning content is made possible through the unique chemistry of the creative teams we build. This shared vision is underpinned by our focus on diversity and inclusion, staff wellbeing and ensuring an authentic voice across all our productions. Delivering a creative, inclusive work community that encourages collaboration, engagement and mutual trust at its core.

Responsibilities
  • Assemble, edit and refine episode animatics entirely within Toon Boom Storyboard Pro.
  • Work closely with the Series Director to establish storytelling, pacing, comedic timing, character performance and overall episode rhythm.
  • Collaborate with the Storyboard Supervisor and storyboard artists to ensure boards translate effectively into polished animatics.
  • Incorporate dialogue, temporary sound effects and guide music to support storytelling and timing throughout production.
  • Manage multiple episodes simultaneously, ensuring editorial quality and delivery schedules are maintained.
  • Prepare production-ready Storyboard Pro files for handover to our co-production partner, ensuring they integrate seamlessly into the Harmony animation pipeline.
  • Maintain consistency of scene timing, camera moves, panel organisation, naming conventions and project structure across all episodes.
  • Liaise with Production, Storyboarding and our co-production partner to resolve editorial and technical queries during production.
  • Produce review versions and editorial exports for internal, broadcaster and client approvals.
  • Maintain accurate production tracking within FTrack and ensure editorial milestones are kept up to date.
  • Help establish and continually improve editorial workflows, templates and production standards across the series.
Skills and experience
  • Proven experience editing animatics for an animated television series or feature animation.
  • Advanced knowledge of Toon Boom Storyboard Pro.
  • Excellent understanding of visual storytelling, pacing, continuity and performance.
  • Strong appreciation of preschool storytelling, with an instinct for clarity, simplicity, warmth and age-appropriate pacing.
  • Experience collaborating closely with Directors and Storyboard Artists to shape episodes through editorial.
  • Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple episodes at different stages of production.
  • Strong communication skills and the confidence to work collaboratively with both UK and overseas production…
