Principal Urban Designer

Located in Bristol, Pegasus Group is seeking an experienced Urban Designer to join our Design team.

Our projects span comprehensive urban extensions, strategic area regeneration, renewable energy, and residential planning. Our skilled design teams possess deep knowledge of planning policies, ensuring the success of all initiatives.

• Engage in urban design and planning activities, including feasibility studies and layout development.
• Formulate development briefs and design strategies for residential, mixed‑use, and other schemes.
• Collaborate with designers, architects, consultants and clients to deliver high‑quality outcomes.
• Mentor and manage junior staff, reporting to Associates/Directors.

• Hold a relevant undergraduate degree, masters or diploma in urban design, architecture or built environment.
• Experience in private practice, consultancy or commercial house‑building operations.
• Knowledge of detailed design and RMA processes.
• Outline application experience welcomed but not essential.
• Working knowledge of the planning system with ability to interpret and adapt local authority guidance.
• Proficient with CAD software; experience in Vectorworks and/or Sketch Up is an advantage.
• Ability to work independently with other consultants.
• Confident in liaising with clients, building relationships and understanding client requirements.
• Strong project management skills and ability to mentor and manage junior staff.
• Excellent interpersonal and interdisciplinary skills.
• Self‑motivated with an excellent eye for detail.
