The role will suit a motivated professional who enjoys responsibility, thrives in a collaborative studio environment, and is passionate about delivering high‑quality buildings and places across both the public and private sectors, with project values ranging from £1m to £50m+.

Key Responsibilities

    • Develop and manage technical design packages, full specifications, and construction information.
    • Coordinate and integrate design and production information, ensuring compliance with statutory, legal, and professional requirements.
    • Demonstrate lateral thinking and flexibility in responding to complex technical and design challenges.
  • Team Leadership & Studio Contribution
    • Lead and manage small project teams, clearly delegating tasks to less experienced team members.

    • Manage personal workload alongside team supervision and project responsibilities.
    • Report to the Regional Director and contribute to the effective running of the studio.
  • Client & Consultant Management
    • Build and maintain strong client relationships, providing confident technical input at any stage of the project lifecycle, often with minimal briefing.
    • Act as a key technical point of contact for internal teams, external consultants, and contractors.
    • Coordinate effectively with other professional consultants across disciplines.
  • Commercial & Business Responsibilities
    • Manage project fees, budgets, and invoicing (with administrative support).
    • Monitor project financial performance and contribute to profitability.
    • Support the practice in winning new work, contributing to bids and proposals as required.
Essential Skills & Experience
  • Proven experience delivering large and/or complex architectural projects, often running multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Ability to take a project brief and develop initial proposals through to detailed technical design.
  • Strong experience managing and coordinating design teams and associated professional consultants.
  • Expertise in producing, analysing, and advising on technical specifications, material selection, and detailed design solutions aligned with performance and production criteria.
  • Ability to evaluate and advise on refurbishment, repair, reuse, recycling, and deconstruction of buildings.
  • Experience monitoring and managing the financial performance of projects.
  • Solid understanding of construction methodologies, technical detailing, and work package information.
  • Working knowledge of Revit.
  • Excellent communication skills and a collaborative, team‑focused approach.
Desirable Skills & Experience
  • Healthcare project experience.
  • Advising clients on procurement routes and forms of contract.
  • Assessing and prioritising client and end‑user needs and agreeing project briefs.
  • Developing innovative technical and design solutions through research and problem‑solving.
  • Appraising building performance in use and maintaining facilities or maintenance management information systems.
  • Advanced Revit skills.
Personal Attributes
  • Confident leader with a collaborative and supportive management style.
  • Highly organised with the ability to prioritize and manage competing deadlines.
  • Flexible and proactive approach to project delivery.
  • Passionate about high‑quality architecture and the creation of meaningful buildings and places.
What’s on Offer

  • Comprehensive benefits package
  • Contemporary studio in an excellent Cardiff location
