Senior Clinical Fellow - Myeloma (ST 6-8)

The University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is looking to appoint a full time post of Clinical Fellow in Myeloma at The Bristol Haematology Unit for 12 months. The University Hospitals Bristol NHS Foundation Trust is one of the largest acute Trusts in the country, rated 'good' by the CQC and is a major teaching and research centre for the South West.

Applications are invited for this excellent training opportunity in all aspects of the management of patients with myeloma.

We are looking for an enthusiastic doctor, with experience in haematology to join an expanding service. This post will be based at Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre and will provide clinical cover for the care of myeloma patients in out‑patient, day unit and in‑patient settings. Duties will primarily cover all aspects of the care of patients with myeloma, AL amyloidosis and other plasma cell disorders including diagnosis, primary therapy and relapse therapy.

This post will be suitable for applicants who have previous experience in Haematology. The post holder will be expected to play an active role in research and contribute to the management of patients in clinical trials.

Main duties of the job

The appointee will attend the weekly myeloma clinic and will contribute to the diagnostic and therapeutic pathway of new myeloma and amyloid patients and the discussion  post holder will also be responsible for the day unit review of patients with myeloma who are undergoing treatment or attending for emergency review. They will deliver a weekly pre‑assessment clinic in addition to the major myeloma clinic on Tuesday am and do ad hoc supervision and prescribing of chemotherapy for these patients.

The Bristol Haematology Unit manages patients with myeloma and amyloid at all stages of their treatment pathway including induction and relapse therapy and stem cell transplantation.
