The Neurology service at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is a tertiary specialist service, providing acute neurology care to a population of 1.8 million people in Lancashire and South Cumbria. You will be supported by a team of consultants, junior doctors, specialist nurses and allied health professionals to deliver care and develop yourself so the service is fit for the future and the changing needs of patients.

This is a permanent post.

The duties of the Locum Consultant Neurologist include providing outpatient sessions at Lancashire Teaching Hospitals and at a peripheral hospital depending on the needs of the service, as well as occasional support to other peripheral hospitals if required. This will be discussed during the job planning process.

• Participate in the on‑call rota
• Promote high standards of clinical care for patients, both through direct patient care and by maintaining their continuing professional development
• Provide direct input to patients; contribute to multi‑disciplinary teams and lead the coordination of care for patients within Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust
• Requirement to provide in‑reach at local district general hospital site, to be discussed at interview
• Contribute to training and teaching of Junior Doctors

Lancashire Teaching Hospitals is the regional centre for cancer, renal, vascular, plastics, major trauma, neurology and neurosurgery. The Neurosciences Centre comprises both Neurosurgery and Medical Neurosciences (Neurology, Neurophysiology, Neuroradiology including interventional neuroradiology, Neuropathology and Neurorehabilitation).

With excellent road and rail links there is easy access to major cities, the expansive North West coastline and areas of outstanding natural beauty in the Forest of Bowland and the Lake District.
